The Institute of
Management Consultants New Jersey Chapter (IMC NJ) is pleased to announce that
Joseph Kowalski, Certified Management Consultant Emeritus, has received the
Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his commitment and exemplary
service to both IMC NJ and the consulting profession.
Kowalski, who was
president and founder of NJ-based Capitol Management Consulting, Inc., was a
founding officer of the IMC Princeton Chapter in 1990. He served as the
Chapter’s second President (1992-1994) and has worked in many Chapter Board and
committee positions. The Award was presented to Kowlaski at the May 16, 2011
IMC NJ dinner meeting.

"Joe’s sustained devotion
to the professionalism of consulting and his support to IMC have been truly
outstanding,” says IMC NJ Chapter President
Helen Dao. "Joe is a consultant’s
consultant, always willing to lend a hand, offer sage advice, mentor new
consultants, and serve as a colleague to experienced consultants.”
With his expertise in
business process analysis and technology, Kowalski developed many computerized
best practices for the Chapter. As Chair of the Certification Committee from
1997-1999, he tirelessly championed the cause for members to become certified
and participated in IMC USA workshops that provided the basic principles,
practices and ethics of management consulting. He also served on the Past
Presidents Council form 1996-2000. His most recent accomplishment was his
support in 2008 in reorganizing and revitalizing the New Jersey Chapter. He led
the group in formalizing the Chapter’s bi-monthly meeting programs topics and
speakers.

"I nominated Joe because
he’s more than just an outstanding consultant,” notes
William Dorman, CMC
Emeritus. "He has been a colleague for many consultants in IMC. I’ve personally
worked with Joe on many consulting projects and can attest to his professionalism
and ethics. He’s trustworthy – just a stand-up guy.”
Kowalski founded
Capitol Management Consulting (CMC) in 1984 and sold the firm in 2009. CMC
provided operations and management consulting services and on-line performance
metrics to business, industry and government. Prior to founding CMC, he held
various operations executive positions with Johnson & Johnson. He holds an
MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a BA from Rutgers University. He
received his Certified Management Consultant designation from the Institute of
Management Consultants in 1987. Kowalski is a long-time resident of Titusville,
NJ.
