Opportunity for Consultants with your local Small Business Development Center

OPPORTUNITY FOR CONSULTANTS

There is an opportunity through your local Small Business Development Center to potentially make a little side money and help out small local businesses.

Most SBDC locations are open to and work with outside Consultants. Consultants will need to contact their local SBDC sites and speak with the Director to determine opportunities. Some sites have individuals work as part time employees but they are the minority.

Payment is typically $35 to $50 per hour. While it is certainly not the rate each of us works for or should be working for normally, it is an opportunity to help local small businesses be successful, build your resume and earn a little side money.

When you work with a client through SBDC, your work would remain through SBDC. SBDC is your client and SBDC pays you. Any work done would be through SBDC and there shouldn't be any expectation by the Consultant that they might have work downstream with that client at a higher rate. Their expectation should be that all work with that client would be through SBDC at the agreed upon rate.

If you are interested in exploring this further, go to http://norcalsbdc.org/findSBDCand contact your local SBDC site.
