Welcome to IMC USA and your professional community of consultants to management. Long-time members agree that involvement is the key to capturing the greatest benefits from IMC USA. Like a gym membership – it only works if you use it. Here are some ideas to help you jump start your becoming a full member of the community:

  • Volunteer to serve on a committee that meets your interests.
  • Ask if you can be a greeter at your chapter’s monthly programs, offering you the opportunity to jump-start your network of professional colleagues.
  • Look over the website to see how IMC operates and get a sense of its culture.
  • Make sure your member profile on the IMC USA website (and your chapter website, if appropriate) is up to date and fully explains who you are and your interests.
  • Look to participate in the service projects of your chapter.
  • Bring a colleague or client to a chapter professional development program, helping them build their own career and network.
  • Seek out other member with similar (or dissimilar but interesting) backgrounds and meet them for a meal just to get to know each other.
  • Participate in chapter social events, giving you a better chance to get to know your colleagues.
  • Offer to speak at a chapter event or that of a close by chapter.
  • Write an article for the website, the IMC Times or C2M in your area of expertise.
  • Look first to IMC chapter members when looking for teaming partners or referrals.
  • Develop your own special interest group in the chapter.
  • Invite your professional colleagues to join IMC and enjoy the benefits of membership in the professional association for management consultants.
  • Get started on your path to certification through the IMC USA Academy for Professional Development curriculum (or offer to serve as an instructor in your area of expertise).
  • Contribute news about your practice or accomplishments to the website or IMC Times.
  • Seek the opportunity to serve as a chapter officer and the chance to improve your professional organization.
  • Once you get to know the chapter operations, ask your chapter officers about national committee or conference opportunities.

Most importantly, look for opportunities to meet the mission of IMC USA:

to promote excellence and ethics in management consulting
through certification, education and professional development.
