Ethical Traps in Consulting

IMC USA Philadelphia Chapter

April 14, 2011

During the course of a consulting career, we all will encounter situations that should test our professional ethics and standards of conduct.  These challenges may come from various sources:  our clients, their employees, our colleagues and other consultants.  Ultimately, however, it is our reactions and responses that matter most. What issues are most likely to test our professionalism, and how should we handle them?

This buzz session will not only delve into the various ethical traps that consultants most often encounter, but also explore the thought processes and possible actions we can take to avoid or resolve them.  As in most "buzz sessions”, discussion will be focused on the audience, in which IMC USA Philly members and guests will discuss their personal encounters, with input from their colleagues as to how the situations should have been handled. You will leave this session with a new appreciation of the ethics traps that face consultants and a greater ability to navigate past them.
