TECHNOLOGY SIG MEETING

Competitive R&D Processes,
Metrics and Practices

With Has Patel, Founder & President, Infologic, Inc.

 Tuesday, October 19, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Laurel Electronics, 3183-G Airway Ave., Costa Mesa, CA 92626

Consultants are often brought in to help manage processes and organizations related to innovation and new products. Regrettably, many new products fail, and funded R&D projects do not result in viable commercial products or meet corporate strategic objectives. This wastes precious R&D dollars and technical manpower, and can result in lost market share and company profitability. Reasons may include the following:

  • Ineffective processes in defining relationships between the R&D, Engineering, Marketing and Manufacturing functions.
  • Lack of effective metrics to assess the R&D portfolio in view of corporate initiatives, market changes, and a changing competitive landscape.
  • Partial management by managing product innovation only,
    and not managing related processes.

For an update on best competitive R&D processes, metrics and practices, join us at our IMC Technology SIG meeting on Tuesday, October 19, as Has Patel, Founder & President, Infologic, Inc., discusses product innovation concepts that should be of interest to consultants regardless of their specialty.

  • Knowledge-based Stage-Gate Process
  • Knowledge-point based Product Lifecycle Management Process
  • Technology Hype Cycle
  • Innovation Cash Curve Critical Research Elements (CRE)
  • Technology & Manufacturing Readiness Levels
  • Best Practices used by DoD and NASA to manage large projects
  • Best Practices to be used by commercial companies of all sizes

Those interested may proceed to a local restaurant following our meeting.
