Technology for the Consulting Practice
With Jim Ayers, CMC
Modernize your consulting practice…
Learn ways (from fellow consultants) to use technology to move your practice forward, make an impact on your clients, and meet your business goals.
Our dinner meeting at the Ayres Hotel will display a "sampler” of available technologies – both new (like Dropbox for teams) and mature (like Excel). Deep down, most of us are convinced we don’t fully use available tools but wish we could do better. A good start is understanding how other consultants use various technologies. Here is the meeting structure.
- Short presentations in parallel with face-to-face discussion of your needs.
- Self-directed (you decide what interests you most) explorations of technologies to help you serve clients and boost your business.
- Chapter "experts” listed below will share their insights and help you uncover value for your practice.
(all will be available for one-on-one consultation)
Dropbox, MS SharePoint (project management applications)
WordPress (blog tool, publishing platform, content management system
Open source document management tools
Financial applications (Quicken, QuickBooks)
Adobe Acrobat (for editing PDF documents)
MS Excel (innovative ways to deploy)
MS Access (use in engagement management)
MS PowerPoint (from Cliff Atkinson (author Beyond Bullet Points)
About Jim Ayers CMC
Jim Ayers CMC of CGR Management Consultants consults on strategy and operations improvement. He serves as the IMC SoCal Certification Chair and is a member of the national Certification Committee. Starting late in adapting computers to his consulting practice, Jim has experienced the best and worst in the struggle with technology. But at the end of the day, that technology greatly levels the playing field and enables the professional practices of individual or small group consultants.
