Hiring Consultants:
a "Consultant turned Corporate” Perspective

With Joe Herold, SVP, Human Resources
Rentech, Inc. / Rentech Nitrogen PartnersC

Joe Herold was a long-time senior Human Resources executive when he started a consulting business in 2007 and took a lead role in IMC’s southern California chapter. In late 2011, he accepted an offer to return to the corporate world to lead the HR function for Rentech, Inc., and Rentech Nitrogen Partners, L.P., two publicly traded companies with a combined market cap of approx. $1.7B.

Joe went from calling on Corporate executives and other prospective clients, back to a role in which he and his peers make decisions regarding potential consulting services to buy and consultants with whom to partner. Joe has agreed to join us for our May breakfast meeting to share thoughts and insights, from "both sides of the fence”, on marketing and successfully delivering consulting services, including:

  • Persistence vs. Annoyance in marketing to corporate clients
  • The importance of "presence” and "fit”
  • Packaging your services
  • Completing the work – key ingredients in building a sustaining relationship and future work

About Joe Herold

Joe Herold joined Rentech in December, 2011 in the role of Senior Vice President of Human Resources. Mr. Herold also serves as Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Rentech Nitrogen Partners, L.P. During the past 30 years, Joe has worked in the oil, chemical, aerospace and semiconductor industries, with leadership roles in operating sites, engineering design centers, sales & service offices and division & corporate headquarters. His experiences include leadership roles with Occidental Petroleum, AlliedSignal Aerospace, Robertshaw Controls and International Rectifier, where he held the position of VP, Global Human Resources. Prior to joining Rentech, Joe was Principal of The Herold Consulting Group.

Joe has an extensive background in designing and implementing talent management and leadership development processes, organizational due diligence and integration of mergers & acquisitions, building effective employee engagement and labor relations partnerships and facilitating organization change. He is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University, a member of the Human Resources Roundtable (HARRT) at UCLA’s Anderson School of Business and a member of the Advisory Board to the Master’s in Human Behavior program at USC. He has also serves as a board member of the Southern California chapter of IMC, a life skills trainer and mentor at Covenant House Los Angeles, and a member of the Training Advisory Board for Inroads LA.

Bring a breakfast topic that interests you for 2013. There will be networking, coffee, juice and breakfast pastries, and a provocative discussion led by Chris Christensen. The cost remains $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Everyone is welcome. We promise an interesting and informative time for all.

Email your reservations to Jerry Savin - (so we know how much coffee and rolls to bring).
