Join the Philadelphia Chapter of
the Institute of Management
Consultants (IMC USA),
serving greater Philadelphia
and the surrounding region, for a breakfast, networking, and "Buzz Session”
conversation. This discussion will be about "How to Rescue Consulting Projects that have become "Derailed,” 7:30
to 9:30 AM Friday, September 20, 2013, at Maggiano's Restaurant, 205 Mall Blvd, King
of Prussia, PA 19406. Bruce Govan, President of
Govan Consulting, LLC will facilitate this topic. Bruce has more than 30 years
of experience in corporate management and consulting in a variety of
industries.
Initial
meetings with your prospective client go well. You develop the project
objectives with an enthusiastic project sponsor. You develop a proposed
statement of work and project plan. You land the engagement and begin
work. Then, unexpectedly things start to go wrong.
You realize that changing requirements, priorities,
and available resources, as well as client politics have superseded your agreed
plan and objectives. You find yourself working beyond the original scope
resulting in unplanned extra work while perceptions of your services are
devalued. This leads to soured client relations, a failed engagement, or some combination
of these outcomes.
Please
come prepared with your own stories about how a consulting project got derailed,
the steps that you took to correct it, and how well these steps worked to
achieve a positive outcome.
