Going Beyond Google: Gathering Intelligence on Companies

Organizations today leave a digital exhaust that can be seen across the internet.You can leverage this open source intelligence to find contacts in companies, gain insights into a given company’s initiatives and investment areas, and see how companies stack up against one another.During this presentation attendees will learn how to use over 20+ free web based tools that they can use to better collect and analyze open source intelligence from the web. Emphasis will be placed on:

  • Understanding what tools can be used to mine social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, etc.) for business insights.
  • What you can learn from mining job postings, resumes, and public profiles of employees
  • What tools you can use to aggregate this information into a meaningful picture
  • What sites you need to use when your search expands to corporations with a global footprint

Techniques will be based in part on one of Cascade Insights' books - Going Beyond Google: Gathering Internet Intelligence, now in its 4th edition.

 

About the Speaker

Sean is regularly asked to present at conferences and he has delivered workshops and seminars hosted by organizations such as Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals, Marketing Research Association, Special Libraries Associations, Marketing Profs, Marketing Research and Intelligence Association, SoftwareCEO, Silicon Valley Product Management Association, the Investigative Reporters and Editors conference, the Association of Product Management and Product Marketing, and on the campuses of many organizations.

Additionally Sean has been invited to speak on 5 continents, and he has been interviewed by Forbes magazine, the NY Times, and the LA Times. Sean is an author of several books, his latest is Going Beyond Google: Gathering Internet Intelligence, now in its 4th edition.

Lastly, Sean is a Contributing Assistant Professor at Willamette University’s Atkinson School of Management where he teaches courses on Industry Analysis and Competitive Intelligence and he is an active member of the Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals association’s Board of Directors
