It's Not What We Do, It's Who We AreA Joint Meeting with PMI Dallas
Whether you consider yourself a project manager, an internal/external OD consultant, or a change management specialist, at the end of the day, we are here to be in service to humans in transition. It doesn’t matter what methodology you subscribe to—what we all have in common is that our function is ultimately to help people navigate the challenges of organizational change. As change professionals, two elements of our work contribute to success:• What We Do—the concepts, frameworks, processes, and techniques we use• Who We Are—how we “show up”…the character and presence we bring to our working relationshipsIt is commonly accepted that the kind of benefits we all hope to generate require proficiency in what to do. What is often neglected, however, is the “who we are” side of the equation. The training most change professionals receive centers on what to recommend or what activities to engage in, not how to bring forward who we are as practitioners in a way that creates value for their clients. The focus for this presentation is an exploration of the role character and presence plays in being a successful facilitator of organizational change.
