at the Bonefish Grill, King of Prussia for a Presentation on:
The Secrets of Consulting Longevity from a Spare Room Tycoon
Presented by James Chan, Ph.D.
James Chan, a management consultant in export marketing for 32 years, will present his personal thoughts on what it takes to successfully build and sustain a long-term consulting practice. He attributes his own success to his SPARE approach (Self-Knowledge, Passion, Action, Realization and Evolution) to starting, running and sustaining a sole proprietorship. He will present the personal lessons and experiences of himself and many other consultants whom he interviewed for his book, to highlight the various skills needed to ensure long-term success. Attendees will benefit from the knowledge and perspective of a well-known leader in his field.
James Chan is president and founder (in 1983) of Asia Marketing and Management, a Philadelphia-based consultancy specialized in advising U.S. firms on marketing American-made products to China and Asia, coaching executives on global expansion, and training American personnel on cross-cultural business skills. He has advised more than 100 U.S. industrial equipment manufacturers, technology firms, and professional services organizations. Dr. Chan created a new MBA course titled “Global Exporting: Asia Focus” at Villanova School of Business, and teaches a special course on China and Cantonese at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the author of “Spare Room Tycoon”, a book on the real-life stories of 40 men and women who turned their personal visions and passions into successful businesses.
