Intellectual Property Strategies
for Competitive R&D

Tuesday, November 16, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Snell & Wilmer, LLP, 600 Anton, Suite 1400, Costa Mesa, CA 92626

Enter parking structure from Park Center Drive just north of Anton.
Parking will be validated.

Innovation has been a main driving force for U.S. companies, and consultants are often brought in to advise on their clients' R&D processes. It is also important for consultants to have a general understanding of U.S. intellectually property law when assessing a proposed R&D project or formulating competitive R&D strategy. Consultants regardless of their discipline need to be aware of the following:
  • Costs and benefits of intellectual property protection
  • Risks of infringing competitors' intellectual property rights
  • Issues of obtaining or granting licensing agreements

For a better understanding of intellectual property strategies, join us at our next IMC Technology SIG meeting on Tuesday, November 16, in the law offices of Snell & Wilmer LLP, as Daniel Chan, Esq., discusses aspects of U.S. intellectual property law that affects all consultants and their clients. Topics will include:

  • Basics of patent law, copyright law, trademark law, and trade secret law
  • The process of acquiring a patent
  • Strategies for avoiding patent infringement
  • Strategies for acquiring a patent in a crowded area
  • Strategies for negotiating a licensing agreement

Those interested in networking may proceed to a local restaurant following our meeting.
