As an outside, independent, consultant one of the tasks is to challenge what are perceived to be valid assumptions, held as true by the client. This can be a sticky situation to which all can relate.

  • Every client holds a list of assumptions about his/her business. They can become 'sacred cows' that management accepts as true, because they have been around so long.
  • How can a consultant, bringing a different perspective into the discussion, challenge key assumptions while maintaining the trust and respect of the client?
  • How does a consultant identify key assumptions held by the client? Positive assumptions? Negative assumptions?
  • What should the consultant do if there is an disagreement on assumptions that will affect the consultant's proposed engagement? What are the options?

These are just a few of the questions we will discuss during the upcoming Consultant's Round Table.

Join us and bring your thoughts and experiences and perhaps a case or two that will help spread light on a 'thorny' dilemma that consultant's often face with clients.
