Ethical Traps in Consulting:
How to Defend Against Issues
You May Never See Coming

An Evening With Mark Haas CMC, FIMC

During the course of a consulting career, we all will encounter situations that should test our professional ethics and standards of conduct.  One only has to read the business press to see how even the most respected consulting firms are failing the ethics challenge, somes spectacularly. These challenges may come from various sources:  our clients, their employees, our colleagues and other consultants.  Ultimately, however, it is our reactions and responses that matter most. What issues are most likely to test our professionalism, and how should we handle them? What issues are likely to trip you up in 2011 that may not even be on your radar?

This buzz session will not only delve into the various ethical traps that consultants most often encounter, but also explore the thought processes and possible actions we can take to avoid or resolve them.  We'll also remind you of some of the more visible consultant ethical missteps over the past few months. This "buzz session” format will focus discussion  on the audience, in which IMC USA NCR members and guests will address their personal encounters, with input from their colleagues as to how the situations could have been handled. You will leave this session with a new appreciation of the ethical traps that face consultants and a greater ability to navigate past them.
