Yes, Technical Consultants Can Talk—and Sometimes Even Sell
By Tom Leech
Presentations by technical consultants have a reputation for being boring and bewildering. Management surveys show that communication skills for technical consultants are highly important, yet capabilities rank low. To be successful, technical consultants need to be able to present their ideas and information in a clear and convincing manner.
Whether you consult on Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, business process re-engineering, ISO & AS Certification, SOX 404, or software development, you need to convince your prospects to hire you and, if hired, you need to present your ideas and your results to an audience that often does not have your level of expertise. In this program you will learn the specific flaws that lead to those drab technical presentations and ways to fix them.
Tom’s presentation
- Examines findings about deficiencies in technical presentations
- Looks at how resistance to the word "sell” is part of technical consultants’ orientation
- Identifies specific flaws that lead to dull presentations
- Provides fixes to eliminate those flaws
- Shows how not only to present information, but to sell your ideas
