De-Mystifying the Federal
Procurement Bureaucracy

Presentation Files

There is a fifth dimension beyond the understanding of man, as vast as government regulation, as timeless as the federal budget. It exists between light and shadow, amidst the depth of a consultant's fears and the summit of her knowledge, between business capture success and failure.

It’s the dimension in government contracting called, "the Procurement Zone”.

Consultants to government have been subject matter experts brought in for short term projects based on their expertise. Over time, Federal executives realized more benefits to ongoing relationships, which expanded into consultants implementing the fundamental operations of Agency programs. The emerging trend now is the use of consultants, not for Agency staff augmentation, but as sources of strategic support.

Our March program discusses a more productive and sustainable way of doing business with the U.S. Government: not just marketing and selling, but aligning the consulting firm to maximize value to the Federal government customer.

Our evening’s presentation will discuss:

  1. Key beliefs, facts, and lessons learned for consultants engaged in the federal acquisition process,
  2. The resulting implications for doing business in the Federal sector today.

Author and speaker, Steve Stryker will disclose the nuances of the Federal acquisition process as they specifically relate to consultants and consulting. He’ll also shed light (and some shadow) on strategies and actions that consultants must take to better support government functions in a cost-constrained environment. You’ll leave better prepared to win work and perform projects for the Federal government; and better equipped to (re)enter "the Procurement Zone”.
