Curt K. Deckert CMC wrote on the Chapter: Orange County wall: During our OC IMC Tech SIG Meeting on January 31 in Irvine I learned more about strategy execution management. This program included networking and a presentation by Tom Willingham, President of The Hampton Group ( www.thampton.com). During his presentation Tom introduced principles of Strategy Execution Management by covering key elements of Strategy Execution Management. His presentation can be viewed at http://www.slideshare.net/TomWillingham.
Tom also included an overview of the KeyneLink Execution Management System (www.keyneinsight.com) and explained how it can be used to monitor, document, plan, and motivate people during the execution of strategies. As typically implemented by consultants, it is part process, part software, and part roadmap. It has had good success in companies of 25 to 250, but can also be used in larger and smaller companies. By combining dynamic metrics on goals, tasks, and behavioral aspects of management it is possible to increase profitability, reduce risks, and provide transparency to progress toward strategic goals. This was a great learning experience about Strategy Execution Management that provided a case example, a valuable Q&A time, and an opportunity to network with other consultants in the Greater Orange County area. By documenting dynamic progress it makes employee evaluations easier and provides evidence of outstanding performance--- or evidence for the lack of performance to respond to potential legal issues ----in responding to goals set by employees and managers.
Tom Willingham as President of The Hampton Group typically assists companies implementing Strategy Execution Management. This consulting helps clients bridge the gap between Strategy, Planning, and Execution. His combination of Industrial Engineering and Finance / Consulting skills helps him to quickly identify unique challenges within a business’s People, Processes, and Strategy, and then generate innovative solutions to improve performance. His clients include hospitals, manufacturers, service providers and non-profit organizations. Prior to founding The Hampton Group, Tom held line management positions which included Plant Manager and Vice President of Operations. He is also an alumnus of Deloitte & Touche’s Management Consulting Practice. This is one of many software aids to management, but it seems to effectively integrate functions necessary for successful execution of strategies such as those required for successful R&D projects and other technology developments.
