IMC USA offers four categories of membership:  Certified Member, Professional Member, Affiliate Member and Student Member.  Qualified consultants to management are awarded a Certificate that authorizes their use of the designation CMC, Certified Management Consultant. Consultants to management with less than the required qualifications may join the IMC USA as a Professional Member.

Two additional membership categories (Member Emeritus and Honorary Member) recognize exemplary service to the Institute and/or the profession of management consulting.
