IMC’s Chapter Leadership Summit to Convene in Chicago

IMC Chapter leaders from around the country will be meeting in Chicago during the first week in May for the annual Chapter Leadership Summit (CLS).

In addition to networking with other chapter leaders, attendees will benefit from the wisdom of some of the top names in consulting. Tom Rodenhauser of Kennedy Information kicks off the conference with a presentation on "State of the Consulting Industry” and the latest research on where the profession is going, what’s going to be hot (and not), and how to profit from the newest trends in consulting.

The next day, one of the top leadership speakers in the country, Mark Thorsby, will talk about the importance of leadership in achieving life and business goals. Loraine Huchler, outgoing Chapter Presidents Council (CPC) Chair, reveals the importance of this type of leadership training at the CLS. "If there is one thing that will sustain chapters, it will be how good their leadership is. The ability of chapter boards to lead, which means crystallizing their vision, their mission and the value proposition to members, is the foundation of a chapter’s success,” Huchler says.

Other Summit sessions will focus on the ISO 17084 standards initiative for the CMC as well as how to leverage IMC and the CMC in both an individual’s consulting practice and for Chapter growth.

CPC Leadership Transition

The Summit will mark the transition of CPC leadership from Loraine Huchler, CMC, PE, to Judith Light, FIMC, CMC. Huchler explains, "We have new challenges now and it’s going take someone with a different set of skills and experiences. Sure, there is the economy, but we have the bigger issue of transforming our certification.”

She goes on to describe Light’s appointment as the new CPC Chair. "We made a conscious decision to select someone who has a couple of key attributes: a longtime IMC member who has been involved in several leadership roles on the national and chapter level. We wanted someone who was very experienced and active in the consulting profession. And Judith’s biggest strength is her ability to build consensus and facilitate alignment of purpose and strategic planning,” Huchler says of Light.

Chapter delegates will get a chance to meet the new CPC Chair during a group Q&A with Light, Huchler, and Drumm McNaughton, Ph.D., CMC, IMC’s Chairman and CEO.
