When the new Board of Directors of the DFW Chapter came together at a planning retreat in June, 2009, we had three goals: to upgrade the quality of speakers at our Management Consulting Forums, to increase members, and to retain members. We have been fortunate enough to have a number of strong programs in place upon which to build to achieve these goals.

Thanks to Mary Murcott, our program chair, we more than exceeded our expectations of raising the bar with the speakers at our Management Consulting Forums. Mary was able to recruit seasoned executive to visit our meetings and speak on topics that have expanded and reinvented our members’ thinking on how they approach customers and develop their practices. We had nine months of top notch speakers, many of whom have travelled at their own expense, to speak to our chapter. You will recognize some of these speakers from Consultapalooza interviews, including Jim Keyes, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Blockbuster, David Overton III, Vice President of Business Unit Strategy at JC Penny, Ziad Khoury, author of Frontline Profit Machine, Doug Lattner, Sr. Advisor Deloitte’s Center of Excellent for Energy and Former Chairman and CEO of Deloitte Consulting LLP to name a few.

The DFW Board of Directors works hard to the benefit our chapter and its members. Our meetings, both at our Practice Development Workshops and our Management Consulting Forums, continue to be an effective means to attract new members and help existing members build their practices.

The DFW Chapter has created a succession plan, with the goal of having a strong finish to our term in June, 2011. The DFW Chapter officers have a two year term and want to ensure a seamless transition to a new Board next year.

The Chapter continues to be financially solid and the goal of the Board of Directors is to leave it that way for the new Board of Directors in 2011. As we prepare to meet for a planning retreat in July to set our goals for the year, we realize that it takes a strong Board to make changes and to reach our goals. DFW has always been lucky to have committed members as part of the chapter.
