What’s the
easiest method to increase the vitality of leadership? Recognize people for their contributions!
IMC USA
provides numerous opportunities to grant awards at both the chapter and
national level (Table 1) that recognize the contributions of IMC members to the
Institute, their Chapter, community and the profession. The IMC USA website contains all of the
qualifications, submission process and application forms that you need.
The process
to grant chapter awards for appreciation and achievement of chapter members
could not be simpler. Any chapter member may make a nomination, obtain the
required number of sponsors and complete the short application from the IMC USA
website. The chapter awards committee or the chapter board sets the submission
deadlines and criteria for awards, deliberates on the nomination and decides on
the venue for recognition.
National
appreciation and achievement recognition awards are based on stricter criteria
and require a more rigorous vetting process. Two award recognitions, the Lifetime Achievement Award and Fellow of the Institute, require
approval of the IMC USA national board.
IMC typically recognizes recipients of these two awards at national
events (such as our new National Conference); therefore nominators must submit
their applications for deliberation by the Awards Committee and subsequent
board action no later than May 31st.
Take a moment
to think about the contributions that a fellow IMC member has made to your
chapter or to IMC USA and consider recognizing them by submitting an application
for an award. Not only will you "make
their day,” but you’ll be practicing the fine art of leadership.
