IMC Convenes 2008 Leadership Summit in Dallas Print E-mail
IMC has made strengthened the involvement of the chapters in national governance and increased the activity of the Chapter Presidents Council. The CPC will be heavily involved in developing the IMC five year plan and in national Board decisions as a new voting member. During the last year, IMC USA has made a significant governance change by making the board position of the chair of the Chapter Presidents’ Council (CPC) a voting member.  Loraine Huchler, P.E., CMC (NJ) currently serves in this new position.  IMC USA has also partnered with the Chapter President’s Council to co-sponsor the Leadership Summit being held in Dallas on May 8th and 9th, in conjunction with the Invigorating IMC Task Force (ITF) and national Board meeting.

The 2008 Leadership Summit continues IMC USA’s efforts to strengthen chapters by providing training for chapter leaders by hosting a biannual conference.  The first Leadership Summit, held in May, 2006, in Chicago, Illinois was a resounding success, and chapter presidents requested that we meet on a periodic basis.  Chapter presidents continue to share best practices and discuss key issues on the monthly conference calls (held at 4pm ET on the first Monday of every month except May and November), meet at Confab and national conferences, build a chapter operations manual on a private WIKI and share information on the Groupmindexpress website.

All chapter leaders are welcome to attend the 2008 Leadership Summit.  On Thursday, May 8th, Judith Light CMC FIMC (COL) will facilitate a strategic planning session to allow chapter leaders to chart a course of increased membership and participation in chapter activities.  On Friday, May 9th, chapter leaders will work in small groups to address specific chapter issues of governance, succession, organization and providing value to chapter members.  The CPC will provide a travel stipend for a maximum of three participants from each chapter, and chapters are encouraged to supplement that stipend.  For more information, contact Loraine Huchler at Huchler@verizon.net or 609-896-4457.
