Institute of Management Consultants USA Strengthens GOVERNING BOARD

Mr. Mark R. Haas CMC was elected as National Board Chair for 2006-2008, along with three internal and one outside director. “This was the strongest slate of candidates in IMC USA’s history, reflecting the desire of professional management consultants to expand the competencies and reach of IMC USA’s certification, ethics and professional development programs to benefit managers and their organizations,” said Dr. Drumm McNaughton, head of the IMC USA Nominating Committee.

To meet the demands of increasing global competitiveness, emerging technologies, a changing workforce, ethical challenges, and business and government leaders desiring access to competent, ethical advisors, The Institute of Management Consultants USA recently significantly strengthened its Board of Directors by adding members with capabilities in finance, operations, training, and marketing.

Mr. Mark R. Haas CMC, President of Research and Organization Management, Inc. (Bethesda, MD), provides strategy, leadership and performance management services to public and private clients, focusing on technology, R&D and scientific organizations. He has been an expert witness, lead Baldrige examiner, advisor to community and industry groups, author, speaker and has served as Ethics Chair for IMC USA.
 
“IMC USA is now better positioned to improve the effectiveness of management and to advance the profession of management consulting,” said Mr. Haas “We have developed a number of powerful partnerships and substantially increased our ability to serve our community of professional consultants to management.”

 New Board Directors include:

  • Ms. Vivianna Guzman, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the American Management Association (New York, NY) was named as an Outside Director. At AMA, Ms. Guzman is responsible for the financial strategy, structure and resources worldwide to support the overall mission and strategy of the global organization. AMA is an educational non-profit association, is the world’s leading management development organization, providing services in the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Asia.
  • Mr. Ken Lizotte CMC, Chief Imaginative Officer (CIO) of emerson consulting group inc. (Concord MA), was named as Director. Ken transforms companies and business leaders into “thoughtleaders.” An author of four books and hundreds of magazine and trade journal articles, Ken is a Management Consultant and frequent keynote speaker on such topics as publishing, creativity, thoughtleadership and media relations. 
  • Ms. Patricia Schumaker CMC, President of the Schumaker Company (Ann Arbor, MI), has private industry experience and in consulting for state and local government agencies, utility and telecommunication companies, manufacturing and distribution companies, and service organizations. 
  • Dr. Gerald Turner CMC, President & Managing Partner, EPM International, LLC. Dr. Turner has held positions of increasing responsibility including technology director, director of international programs, VP of operations, CEO, COO and senior management consultant within major global management consulting firms. His most recent engagements have included development of state-of-the-art organizational transformation and change programs for major domestic and international customers in emerging global markets.

  • Dr. Earl R. Smith II, Executive Director, Longview (Washington, DC), has been named an Outside Director.

 The Board will focus on expanding certification of professional consultants to management, generating professional development resources for IMC USA members, supporting chapter development, promoting and enforcing ethics among members, and representing the management consulting profession in the U.S. and globally.

 IMC USA is the premier professional association and sole certifying body for management consultants in the US. Its mission is to promote excellence and ethics in management consulting through certification, education and professional resources. Members in its 24 chapters provide advisory services to management in public, private and institutional sectors in almost every industry. IMC USA confers the designation of Certified Management Consultant (CMC®) on those who meet rigorous global standards of technical competency, client satisfaction, commitment to continued professional development, and adherence to a rigorously enforced Code of Ethics. Less than 1% of all practicing management consultants have received this designation.

 IMC USA is also a charter member of the International Council of Management Consulting
Institutes (ICMCI), the 42-nation body that sets global standards for competence and professional conduct for the management consulting profession.
