IMC USA Standards
The mission of the Institute of Management Consultants USA (IMC USA) is to promote excellence and ethics in management consulting through certification, education and professional resources. IMC USA standards provide guidance and information on how to comply with the Management Consulting Competency Framework and the IMC USA Code of Ethics. The standards are relevant for and contain mandatory requirements for all management consultants that have earned the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation. However, they are useful and beneficial for the wider audience of management consultants.
When consistently applied, these guidelines help management consultants achieve the minimum level of acceptable performance required to meet the professional responsibilities set out in the IMC USA Code of Ethics. Management consultants should use professional judgement in the application of these guidelines and be prepared to justify any departure.
IMC members can log in for complimentary access to read-only PDFs of the standards. All standards are available for purchase in the IMC Store.

The purpose of this document is to provide guidance and information on how to comply with the standard for “Practice Management”.
