Recommendations on How to Leverage the IMC Website

Recommendations on How Chapters and Members
Can Best Use the IMC USA Website

  1. Members use the site when it is in their self interest, so I recommend the following
    • Update member profiles (click Manage Profile link in the My Profile menu on the right side of every page)
    • Attach corporate brochures and extra pages to profiles, including video clips, links to networks (LinkedIn, etc) and your website
    • Connect with members as desired, whose activities will show up in your profile page on special feeds/walls (vs. every member’s activities)
    • Subscribe to notifications for consulting opportunities (click http://www.imcusa.org/networking/subscribe.asp)
    • Encourage members to enable the wall on their profile (click Manage Profile, then Preferences)
    • Sign up for Consultapalooza (click http://www.imcusa.org/?page=CONSULTAPALOOZA)
    • Subscribe to Communities of Practice of interest and start a conversation in one
    • Post news about their practice or chapter (our site has probably 100 times the traffic of any member’s site, thus is more visible to search engines)
    • Use the materials in the CMC Marketing Toolkit (click http://www.imcusa.org/?CMCTOOLKIT)
    • Post opportunities for teaming (http://www.imcusa.org/networking/submit.asp)
    • Place member books for sale in the IMC store (these will be moved to a member marketplace later this year)
    • Subscribe to blogs and forums of interest, either through the website or by RSS feeds

  2. Chapters can:
    • Keep the landing page and home page up to date
    • Post news about the chapter to the home page
    • Have chapter president start a monthly blog to members
    • Post events to the chapter calendar for at least six months out
    • Use geotargeted ads in the site header for chapter events
    • Create file libraries of documents of use/interest to chapter members, including presentation materials from past programs
    • Import nonmember names and contact info into the membership database
    • Use the bulk email capabilities to mail members about events and manage the member development pipeline
    • Start discussion groups as appropriate for the chapter or regional business topics
    • Use the chapter board group to store documents and conduct board business
    • Turn on the home page digest/newsletter feature and advise members to subscribe
    • Actively track chapter-specific Guest registrations and convert to members or at least active guests
