November 18th Dinner Meeting - What Every Consultant Should Know about Business and Wealth

About the program - blah, blah, blah

A seasoned management consultant whose career began in 1969, Ernie Doud, CMC, is a nationally recognized authority on family business dynamics and strategic management issues in family and entrepreneurial businesses. His experience as both a consultant and business executive helps Ernie to get to the heart of family business issues that clients face and partner with them to develop sustainable solutions. Ernie is a Fellow of the Family Firm Institute. He also holds membership in the Institute of Management Consultants. Ernie and his wife Maggie have four children and one grandchild.

The dinner meeting will be preceded by our Academy of Consulting Skills, "What Makes You Unique as a Management Consultant?" Don't miss this workshop during which experienced consultant, Peter Crosby, CMC, tells all.

OC Breakfast, "How to Turn Small Consulting Clients Into Big Clients."

    IMC SoCal Member Happenings
DON McNAMARA, President of Heritage Associates, Inc. and VP of Membership for IMC SoCal, has been named Contributing Editor to "Sales and Marketing Excellence" magazine. According to Ken Shelton, Editor-in- Chief, "on a regular basis Don has been supplying article of great interest to our editorial staff. We identified his expertise in the field of top sales performance and superior sales management early on, and every one of his submissions to date has been published." Heritage Associates is a full-service sales management consulting, training, and coaching firm.

JIM AYERS. "Supply chain management has rendered inflation dead in its tracks," so says Shakeel Mazaffar, global supply chain executive for Imperial Chemical Industries. This is good news for consumers but bad news for managers. The job of providing products and services is forever transformed. To survive, managers must design and implement supply chain strategies -- a complex and difficult task. "Supply Chain Project Management: A Structured Collaborative and Measurable Approach," written by member Jim Ayers and published by St. Lucie Press, describes using a step-by-step disciplined approach. The book blends knowledge and practice in both supply chain and project management. Sources for the described processes are many, including the author's own "Handbook of Supply Chain Management" and the Project Management Institute's Body of Knowledge, known as "PMBOK." For more information, contact the author, James B. Ayers of CGR Management Consultants at jimayers@cgrmc.com or at 310-822-6720. CGR, founded in 1984, provides supply chain consulting services.

PAUL GLEN, our  chapter President, has won an international award for his new book. "Leading Geeks" won the 2003 Financial Times Germany/getAbstract Book Award at the recent Frankfurt Book Festival as best book in the category of leadership. The prizes are awarded annually for innovative national and international books on business and finance. The Financial Times Germany calls the winners "brave forward thinkers in the areas of business and finance" who are helping drive the economic- political agenda. The third annual prizes were awarded to books in three categories: globalization, reform, and leadership.

    Confab - ulous!
Several IMC SoCal members and prospective members attended the annual Confab meeting in Reno, Nevada. Barb Mather (LAX Bfast Chair), Katrina Ling, Elizabeth Glynn, Michael Utvich, Ari Citak, Curt Deckart, Chris Christensen, Mark Daniel (Treasurer), Paul Glen (President), Richard Longview, Jing Xie, Bill Mooney and Jennifer Beever (Chair) were treated to great programs and networking (including a reception at the new Reno Museum of Art hosted by Sierra Pacific Power and attended by the Mayor of Reno). Confab happens every year, and is considered by many to be a "don't miss" IMC conference.
