April 20th Afternoon & Evening Seminar with Marsha Lewin on "You Want to be a What?: What You Need to Know about Building a Consulting Career" and "Make Hay Even When the Sun Doesn't Shine!: Consulting Business Building Activities when the Economy Turns South"

"You Want to be a What?" During our afternoon session on April 20, let Marsha help you prepare yourself for a successful consulting career in this practical, exciting and fun workshop, which will address the basic building blocks of a successful consulting practice. Bring your marketing materials and business plans. We'll discuss the first three submitted sets (without names). To be included and to get professional advice from Marsha, please email your materials to marsha@marshalewin.com by April 1.

"Make Hay Even When the Sun Doesn't Shine!" Success isn't just about effort - it's about applying that effort at the right time and in the right places. While some may say the consulting cycle is uncontrollable, there are ways you can harness the unpredictable cycles of feast and famine while keeping those assignments and revenues coming! Join Marsha Lewin during our evening session, as she speaks from her own experience on building and sustaining a successful consulting practice over 34 years through many economic cycles.

Marsha Lewin is president of Marsha D. Lewin Associates, a project management and information systems strategy management consulting firm. Her firm has been listed among the "top 100 consulting firms in the US" by Consultants News. Ms. Lewin is an author and featured guest speaker on project management and management consulting topics. She is author of The Overnight Consultant (a Book-of-the-Month Club main selection), The Consultant's Survival Guide (a Book-of-the-Month Club featured selection), and Better Software Project Management: A Primer for Success.

April 1st, Orange County Breakfast Meeting - "Automation Tools to Manage Your Consulting Clients... from Prospecting to Project Management" with Mark Friedman
Learn how to build sales for your consulting practice by using readily available software and online tools to manage prospective clients and ongoing client relationships so that nothing falls in the cracks. The same software tools can also help you manage actual consulting engagements.

Many management consultants run their own business by the seat of their pants, without any systematic program to manage client relationships. Don't be among them, since many business opportunities are lost due to lack of timely communication and follow-up. Sole practitioners who rely on prospecting and established consultants who rely on referrals are equally at risk.

Our main speaker will be Mark Friedman, President of The Velos Group, Inc., a consulting firm which helps companies grow sales through database marketing, direct mail, sales force automation, telemarketing, and improved sales lead management. Mark will present the leading software tools available to consultants for database marketing and customer relationship management (CRM). He will teach us how to identify our best prospects using database marketing techniques usually reserved for big companies. And he will demonstrate sales force automation techniques to automate the client relationship management aspect of our practice. Assisting Mark will be Rich Heimann, and expert on ACT! contact management software.
