Presented by Henry DeVries, President, New Client Marketing Institute

A master of the art of promoting consultants, Client Seduction author Henry DeVries will share pragmatic tactics that will transform your consulting business by bringing in more clients. This talk is about a step- by-step personal action plan to help consultants create new-client-generating systems that produce stable and predictable streams of revenue. We will cover:

    • The offer that qualified prospects can’t refuse
    • The four steps from marketing suspect to signed contract
    • The difference between suspects, prospects and evaluators
    • How to make it easy to obtain potential client referrals
    • Free ways to sell more services

Gain insights on the above topics during our afternoon session on Tuesday, April 18, when Henry DeVries shares his extensive experience as a master promoter. Whether you are new to consulting or an old pro, you will assuredly gain some valuable knowledge for a more successful practice.

    Evening Session (6:15 - 8:30 p.m.)
Attract Referrals Like Crazy! Top 7 ways to get others to send you their clients
Presented by Adam Urbanski, President, TheMarketingMentors.com

Building a database of high quality prospects eager to buy your consulting services is like hitting a jackpot. For most consultants building such list takes years! But not for you after this presentation!

Now you too can build a massive database of rabid buyers in only three to six months, with little or no cost to you – and even if you are starting from scratch.

In 60 minutes you’ll discover how to:

    • Give your consulting practice an instant jumpstart by tapping into the credibility and contacts of more established colleagues.
    • Develop a simple marketing tool that will quadruple your referrals and double your closing rates.
    • Improve the pulling power of your lead generating and referral systems with these 3 KEY COMPONENTS that only one in a hundred consultants is actually using right now!
    • Craft an irresistible marketing message; find out which 9 elements your message should never be without. (Hint: once you see this you’ll instantly realize why your current marketing materials don’t get the results you want.)
    • Get other people to willingly and enthusiastically spread your marketing materials like a wild fire – constantly filling your pipeline with all the qualified prospects you want.

It will amaze you how things so simple can be so effective. Frankly, afterwards you’ll be scratching your head wondering why you never thought of these ideas before.

    Regional Breakfast Meetings

    LAX Breakfast Meeting, April 7

"Boost Your Business Today by What You Say in the First 10 Seconds "
    with
With Arvee Robinson, Persuasive Speech Coach, Speaker, and Author

This presentation outlines a short and powerful system for answering the dreaded question:
“And what do you do?” “Ah, um, I’m a Financial Advisor.”
    B-o-r-i-n-g!
Has this ever happened to you? You ask someone, “What do you do?” only to have them mutter their title (as if a title tells all). The problem with throwing a title around is that unless we are in your business, we still don’t know what you do. And, more importantly, we don’t care what you do until we know what you can do for us. In this presentation, you will learn how to:

o                               Create a 10-second sound bite that leaves people wanting to know more

o                                Describe what you do for people instead of selling

o                                Intrigue your audience so they ask, “How do you do that?”

o                                Convey who you best serve (target market)

o                                Get them to make an appointment with you

"Boost Your Consulting Practice by Building a
    Network of Referral Resources"
    with
Patrick Henry, President of the Referral Engine Company

One of the most effective ways to build a consulting practice is to build a network of referral sources who act as "sales agents" and provide a constant supply of new business opportunities.

An effective referral network is the answer to many a consultant's prayers. The sales efforts of individual consultants are seldom effective. Consultants are not born to sell, yet they somehow must fit their marketing activities inside the delivery of their services. They face the yo-yo effect - when they are busy with projects, their pipeline empties, and when their projects are completed, it takes time to refill the pipeline.

    Time & Place
Place: Mezzanine Restaurant, 19800 MacArthur Blvd., Irvine, CA 92612
    Date: Friday, April 14, 2006
    Time: 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Price: $12 for IMC members and $17 for non- members. This includes any choice from the IMC hot breakfast menu, tax and tip included

    SBIR Speakers Needed

They're looking for speakers with experience in winning SBIRs for an entrepreneur-led rather than university-led team, and other topics related to winning and managing SBIRs.

If you're interested, or can recommend someone, please contact Margaret Chock, MIBChock@cs.com

    Taking Flight with Your Practice

Professional Development for The Institute of Management Consultants – Southern California Chapter will be providing another in the very successful “Taking Flight with Your Practice” sessions this coming fall and winter. We will be providing a limited number of openings to attend a series of workshops facilitated by one of the local members and experienced consultant. Space is limited to eight attendees per course in order to provide proper attention and assistance for each attendee.

Taking Flight with Your Practice is a two-part program the first of which deals with Developing the Engagement, while the second will cover Delivering the Engagement and Disengaging from the Client.

The entire series consists of 6-up to 2 hour meetings. Originally presented on a limited basis in the United States, it has become so popular and beneficial that it is being provided nationally and more specifically for the second time in southern California.

Initially targeted for those with 0-3 years consulting experience, it has proven popular with individuals repositioning a consulting practice and with smaller firms seeking a good training and orientation program for their consultants.

Last year we met at The Renaissance Hotel at LAX at 1:30PM on the third Tuesday of those months when an IMC Dinner Program was offered. This was just prior to the regularly scheduled IMC Southern California Dinner Meeting. We expect a similar day and time will be set for the upcoming session.

    The Renaissance Hotel
    9620 Airport Blvd.
    Los Angeles, CA 90045
    Phone: (310) 337 2800

Meeting dates are yet to be established; We will begin the next session January 2006 once we receive six confirmed enrollees.

Contact: Don McNamara CMC, Chair - Professional Development Southern California Chapter at 949.230.4363 for more information and enrollment.

Don’t wait, get your information in the data base right away!

Contact us at news@imcsocal.org to have your information added to this members-only page.

Another feature of the site is a carpooling info sheet for those people wishing to set up a carpool to the monthly IMC events (breakfast and chapter meetings). Members can simply provide information on their preferences and this information will be added to the site, allowing other members to match up their needs.
