    President's Message

    Embrace Change!

Last call for nominations for next year's IMC SoCal Board, and volunteers for its committees! It's time to Embrace Change and Manage a Smooth Transition, as described in this month's IMC Communicator. It's an exciting time to get involved - we're bubbling with new ideas on small group formation and welcoming new members, and looking forward to still more ideas from the IMC Chapter Leadership Conference in Dallas in May. We're continuing to provide a great education in the consulting business for our members. For the April workshop and dinner, our Public Relations Chair, Bob Fisher, put together a program on marketing for consultants. He gave a broad overview of some of the most effective tactics for a General Custer marketing strategy - attack your prospect from all sides! In the evening, our Dale DeHart focused in, on search engine marketing tools for our Web sites, which will show us how effective our sites are as marketing tools. Last month's description of the March meeting got lost in transition -- Bill Mooney led a substantial program on presentations and proposals. He gave us a lot of ideas on how to use proposals and the presentation of them as marketing tools. He brought in Rick Usher to tell us how to use our proposals to manage potential risks in our projects. A good meeting with new perspectives on some critical business issues! Thank you, Bill.

    Best wishes,
    Margaret Chock CMC, President

    Regional Breakfast Meetings

LAX IMC BREAKFAST MEETING April 4, 2008:

"Performance Management: It's Not About Measuring Performance!"
    Presented by: Wayne Nelson

Traditional performance management systems have either started from the top and measured organizational financial data or started from the bottom and measured individual employee performance. Neither method has proved successful, so each has evolved to try to incorporate some of what the other has to offer. Both methods, however, have retained the underlying philosophy that "if it can't be measured, it can't be managed." This philosophy is flawed. Performance management shouldn't be about measuring performance, it should be about dynamically and actively guiding, directing, and managing people, processes and organizations toward the accomplishment of corporate initiatives. Keyne Insight has spent the last eight years developing, refining and implementing an integrated performance management process that successfully links the two sides.
Wayne Nelsen, the president of Keyne Insight, Inc., will share Keyne Insight's performance management process as well current trends in the performance management industry and his experiences in the trenches. Don't miss this informative, paradigm- shifting presentation!
