  • Dear IMC,

    Don't miss our
    June 20, 2006, Dinner Meeting!

"Special Session: Consultants Meet Consultants and Clients (CmCC)"

    Facilitated by Jerry Savin, FIMC

Do you ever wish that you had a systematic collaborative approach to networking, with which you could develop a network of relationships rather than a collection of business cards and vague acquaintances?

Would you like to meet the consultants that work in your industry and/or can refer you to their clients?

IMC presents Consultants meet Consultants and Clients, a special program designed to help you make the contacts you need to form synergies, alliances and get new clients! The CmCC format has proven so successful at international consulting meetings that Jerry Savin, FIMC, CMC, wanted to bring it to IMC SoCal.

To participate in this special event, you will need to register well in advance and fill out a form describing your practice, clients, services and project examples. Submit the form to Jerry Savin. Jerry will pair you with four “matches” – consultants with whom you have synergies and can collaborate with.

By June 14th, download the form (doc) , fill it out and email back to Jerry Savin

"Composing Successful Teams in Hollywood Film Production"
    with
    Angus Strachan, PhD

It is our thesis that the work force as a whole is becoming more and more like the film industry. Just as the influence of the Studio system has been replaced by freelancing film production teams, so has the influence of bureaucratic culture been replaced by self-directed work teams, flatter organizations, and constantly changing structures. We will use the film team model to show consultants how they can understand teams from a unique perspective. They can then use this model to understand their own optimal 'team role' (even if they are a company of one) and those of their clients.

    "Sales Closing Skills for Consultants"
    with
Patrick McClure, President, PTM Sales Group, Inc.

At our Friday, June 9 IMC Orange County Breakfast Meeting, learn essential sales closing skills that no consultant can afford to be without. Patrick McClure, President of PTM Sales, professional sales trainers and consultants, will cover some of the basics:

    • How to identify the right person to close.
    • When to go for the close.
    • How to pace your close.
    • How to listen your way to a close.
    • How to allow your customer to close.
    • How to handle objections.
    • How to recognize that your customer has been closed.
    • How to validate and confirm the close.
    • How to manage your sales pipeline and avoid loose ends.

    Taking Flight with Your Practice

Professional Development for The Institute of Management Consultants – Southern California Chapter will be providing another in the very successful “Taking Flight with Your Practice” sessions this coming fall and winter. We will be providing a limited number of openings to attend a series of workshops facilitated by one of the local members and experienced consultant. Space is limited to eight attendees per course in order to provide proper attention and assistance for each attendee.

Taking Flight with Your Practice is a two-part program the first of which deals with Developing the Engagement, while the second will cover Delivering the Engagement and Disengaging from the Client.

The entire series consists of 6-up to 2 hour meetings. Originally presented on a limited basis in the United States, it has become so popular and beneficial that it is being provided nationally and more specifically for the second time in southern California.

Initially targeted for those with 0-3 years consulting experience, it has proven popular with individuals repositioning a consulting practice and with smaller firms seeking a good training and orientation program for their consultants.

Last year we met at The Renaissance Hotel at LAX at 1:30PM on the third Tuesday of those months when an IMC Dinner Program was offered. This was just prior to the regularly scheduled IMC Southern California Dinner Meeting. We expect a similar day and time will be set for the upcoming session.

    The Renaissance Hotel
    9620 Airport Blvd.

Meeting dates are yet to be established; We will begin the next session January 2006 once we receive six confirmed enrollees.
