Two Breakthroughs in Personal Productivity - Sales & Time Management

Join the afternoon workshop: “The Dance of Sales” and the evening presentation: “A New Approach to Personal Productivity and Time Management”, with Ivan M. Rosenberg, Ph.D., CEO, Frontier Associates, Inc.

Afternoon Workshop, 4.30 – 5.30 pm: A New Approach to Personal Productivity & Time Management

Do you feel overwhelmed with all that you have to do? Is your desk, terminal, and date book covered with yellow sticky notes and other To-Do lists that you rarely (if ever) get to work on? Are you frustrated at the end of the day that you didn’t get done what you had planned to at the beginning? Well, forget your To-Do lists! Dr. Rosenberg will present his very successful and practical approach on how to get things done without writing To-Do lists. This talk will present a simple system for ensuring that you get done what is most productive, being able to put your full attention on what is in front of you, and experiencing the peace of mind that comes from knowing, everything has been handled appropriately.

Evening Presentation, 6.00 – 8.30 pm: The Dance of Sales

Most people view sales as something unpleasant, and thus to be avoided. Unless their title is salesperson, they look at sales as something separate from what they aspire or are paid to do. As a result, sales effectiveness rarely reaches its potential.

Why do many people have such negative feelings about sales? They view sales as inherently a contest – an adversarial relationship – between seller and prospect. To improve sales effectiveness, the paradigm of sales in which people operate must be changed.

Join us on November 11, as we learn from Ivan M. Rosenberg, Ph.D., how to have more fun selling. In this presentation, Dr. Rosenberg will introduce his Conversational SalesSM Approach – for those who dislike selling and for those who love selling. He will interact with the audience, and inspire them to transform sales into a positive experience, that they can enjoy over and over again.

LAX IMC BREAKFAST MEETING: Nov 7, 2008:

    Business Turnaround through Process Improvement
with Lean Six Sigma with Edward Lai,
    Edward C. Lai and Associates

Lean Six Sigma (LSS) is a collaborative team approach that focuses on the elimination of waste and the reduction of variability to provide cost-effective, consistent and reliable product and service to the customers.

The leadership team is able to make more informed decisions and choices based on facts and data. LSS helps organizations to be more effective and efficient in leveraging limited resources to meet their customers' demands. It has become a best practice and a discriminator in the competitive business environment.

This introduction will give the participants an understanding of the history and concepts of LSS with examples, as well as some common tools and techniques used in projects and synchronous workshops. A hands-on exercise will demonstrate the dynamics in business processes and will facilitate discussion on how to avoid pitfalls.

The Lakes Golf Course, El Segundo, 7:30-9:00am
Coordinator: Barbara Mather, CMC at bam@matherconsulting.com

How to Use the New Social Media
    to Build Your Consulting Practice
with Rebekah King, Founder & CEO of ReBiz Works

Consulting websites are so 1990's. Even though you may just have updated and revised your website, that website can only take you to first base. When it comes to building your reputation as a consultant, social media are today's base hits that will take you to home base.

Join us on November 13, as we learn the secrets of social media from Rebekah King, an expert in the field, and how we can apply social media to build our own consulting practice. Topics will include:

    • The seven social media that every consultant needs to know about.
    • The five social media in which you should actually participate.
    • How lessons learned from "old media" can be applied to the "new media."
    • How to use your online community to create content so you don't have to.
    • Three ways to spotlight your services in a virtual world environment.
    • How to communicate your core message and reach your ideal customers every time your blog is visited.
    • How to leverage joint venture relationships to build your list at record speed.
    • The three key questions you need to answer to build your online brand.
    • And a lot more...

Expect many examples and a lively discussion, as participants will explore how social media can be made to work for them. This will be an eye-opening breakfast meeting not to be missed and a great networking opportunity with your fellow consultants in the greater Orange County area.

    New Small Group Programs

Consultants Meet Consultants and Clients (CmCC): Nov. 20

Our new CmCC program has been initiated and facilitated by our chapter’s president Jerry Savin. The kick-off meeting was on Oct. 16 and it went exceptionally well due to the group’s active sharing and excellent preparation for this program. We are looking forward to the next meeting and the opportunity to get to know each other more and discover ways how to help each other to grow their business.

    What is CmCC?

CmCC is a unique opportunity to build vital professional relationships that can lead to referrals to potential clients. It is based on the notion that consultants routinely make referrals but only to those, they know and trust. The purpose of CmCC is to provide an environment in which these relationships can be developed.

The keys to successful relationship building are a strong desire to help your colleagues by actively looking for opportunities for them and the ability to clearly convey to them your consulting services and the magic you bring to your clients. Mutual support and sharing are the essence of CmCC.

Like anything worthwhile, relationship building requires commitment and constant attention; hence, a 6-month commitment to the program and to your colleagues is required.

If you are interested in participating in a CmCC group, please contact the program coordinator Jerry Savin.

Meetings: Normally the 3rd Thursday of each month,
Century City, Rutter, Hobbs & Davidoff Conference Room,
    7:30-9:00am
Coordinator: Jerry Savin, FIMC, CMC at jsavin@ctcg.com
    Phone: (310) 229-8947

    Marketing Roundtable: Nov. 5, 2008

The chapter is ready to launch a second Marketing Roundtable group. The first Marketing Roundtable group had its fourth meeting on Oct. 15. This program has been launched by Jerry Savin and Thor Rhode, and is regarded as a success by its participants. Below you will find some quotes from the group’s members that convey its mission and learning experience:

Barbara Mather, CMC: "The SoCal IMC Marketing Roundtable for members is providing significant value to me as we work together in a small, focused setting. Our intent is to help one another, give guidance and share our opinions, to one another on our marketing plans, positioning, messaging, and communications. The more we meet and understand what each other’s consulting focus is, the greater we can share opinions and advise one another. Tremendous value!"

Margaret Chock, Ph.D., CMC: “The Marketing Roundtable provides not only valuable feedback on my marketing efforts and ideas, but it also offers a unique opportunity to interact with and learn from other consultants in a business problem-solving mode beyond the well-worn chapter issues."

Kim Campot: "True to the consulting discipline, I like helping others resolve their challenges. The Marketing Roundtable puts this dynamic to work by calling on us to work through the challenge of self-promotion – in a way that we are answerable to colleagues… a good deal easier than answering to ourselves! Professional candor and insight in a small group setting has created a treasured and trusted environment."

Cherie Sion, CMC: "Round Tables add value to IMC because they allow consultants to view their practice through the eyes of fellow professionals. And, knowledge of each member’s expertise builds trust and increases the likelihood of referrals."

Robert Josefek, Ph.D.: "The IMC SoCal Marketing Roundtable demonstrates how a group of supportive peer-consultants can help each other. It really helps to engage the collective wisdom of the group as we do analysis and share feedback about member's marketing activities.”

If you are interested in participating in a NEW Marketing Roundtable group, please contact the program coordinators.

Meetings: Normally the 1st Wednesday of each month,
Location: El Segundo / Santa Monica, 7:30-9:00am
Coordinator: Jerry Savin, FIMC, CMC at jsavin@ctcg.com or Thor Rhode at thor.rhode@yahoo.com
