Connecting with "C” Suite

A panel of three "C” Level officers reveal how to get hired and referred.

You will hear from a CTO, a COO and a VP Human Resources & Corporate Services. Each has years of service in the executive suite. One is a working Management consultant currently on assignment as a COO.

Our Panel:

Diane Anderson is a graduate of the University of San Francisco, a CPA, and a candidate for the masters degree in computer science form Portland State University.

With more than thirty years experience (10 years in financial management and 22 years in information technology management), she is a recognized ‘expert' in the development of "systems” for projects and corporations. She has extensive experience in the high tech and manufacturing arenas to include: project management; financial management; work simplification process design, development and implementation; long range strategic planning; and technical program implementation.

Most recently, Ms Anderson was the Chief Technology Officer for Microsoft's , High Tech and Electronics Industry Solutions Group.

She has served as the Vice President of Information Technology at the worldwide headquarters of AMIS Corporation in Pocatello, Idaho and also held executive and senior management positions in Information Technology at Intel Corporation and Radisys Corporation in Oregon.

Karen Weisz

Vice President, Human Resources & Corporate Services

Standard Insurance Company

Karen Weisz joined The Standard in 2008 as vice president of Human Resources and in January 2009 was promoted to vice president of Human Resources and Corporate Services.

Before joining The Standard she was with Intel Corporation, most recently as the Human Resources Director of new and emerging Platform Business Groups. During more than 12 years at Intel, she held progressively senior management roles in Human Resources and Learning and Organizational Development, including overseeing Intel University. Prior to this Karen was a teacher with San Francisco public schools in both general and bilingual education.

She is a graduate of University of California at Santa Cruz where she holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and Literature. She earned a Masters of Science degree in Educational Policy & Administration from Portland State University.

Weisz serves on the board of directors of Special Olympics Oregon and is a founding member of the Portland Public Schools Special Education PTA. She is also active in a number of local organizations focused on promoting women's leadership and diversity.

J. (Jim) W. Grew has been assisting midsize and smaller organizations as a line executive and management consultant since 1993.

He is currently President/COO of WW Metal Fab, a manufacturing firm in Milwaukie which for 30 years has made metal parts for companies like Daimler, SafeWorks, BD Diagnostics, Tektronix, and others. We meet their quality requirements and ship Just in Time. These relationships last because we give them what they need.

As a senior executive with successful profit responsibility for four private companies and divisions of two billion-dollar firms, Jewel Companies and Fred Meyer, Jim developed skills in business strategy and execution that transfer directly to his mid-market clients. His special competence includes business strategy, sales and marketing, manufacturing and company operations.

Jim Grew is the Principal of the J.W. Grew Company. His 10 years of management consulting experience builds on 29 years as a successful executive manager.

His experience and results suggest that improved performance requires investment in people, systems and support structures. Usually that investment does not require additional resources, but rather the redirection of talent, energy and resources already present.

Grew Company clients include manufacturers of metal parts, electronics, packaging (WW Metalfab, Helser Industries, Service Steel, Triad Speakers, MartinLogan, Kantronics, Package Containers Inc.), waste haulers (Miller's), service firms such as Western Pacific Investment Advisors, Fabric Filters (design engineers), Art & Sign; health care IT (Argus), and more
