What Digital Transformation Is and What It Is Not (It’s not about Technology).

Digital Transformation is becoming a priority for most organizations. This month in our discussion we will learn about the digital landscape. As consultants in a variety of areas knowing the pitfalls and methods of success can help our clients. It will be an engaging discussion without shying away from controversial topics. Steve Limer, Vadim Katsman and Mary Beth Pinda have been working on a white paper on Digital Transformation which is a deeper detail source for this conversation.

The “Digital Transformation” term has become the buzzword of the decade surrounded with the magnitude of different interpretations and opinions.  Some focus on the digital side (emphasizing predominantly technological change) while some focus on the transformative end (which focuses predominantly on the business impact).

The group of members of Institute of Management Consultants from Chicago, combining backgrounds in consulting, technology and business practices, have attempted to assemble variety of views, trends, strategies, opinions, and case studies that are dominating the discussion from multiple angles to facilitate the conversation and share the combined consolidated prospective for other members of the consulting community.

Doing so, we did not shy away from learning from the good, warning about difficulties for whom embarks the path, arguing with overly optimistic predictions, and, at the end, learned ourselves about more aspects of the discussion than we thought at the beginning of our journey of putting this material together.

Our discussion leader is Steve Limer owner of Data Managers, Inc (DMI) which he founded in 1999 as a software development firm and computer consultancy. DMI develops a variety of systems for primarily transactional business processes. These include ERP systems, TMS platforms and a variety of business automation tools. DMI has worked in many Industries and at great length in logistics and accounting departments. In addition, DMI also has many years of experience in the manufacturing space.

DMI is very much a relationship company with the goal of working with our customers over time as they grow. Steve’s average customer has been with DMI for over 8 years.
