The LAX-Area Breakfast meetings occur normally on the 1st Friday of each month from 7:30 - 9:00 a.m.

Most successful consultants report that referrals are the source of the majority of their client work. Perhaps more than any other marketing activity, building an effective referral network is critical to building a successful consulting business.

We've spent the last two LAX breakfast meetings discussing core philosophies and key frameworks for building an effective referral network. Now it's time to put those concepts in action.

The January LAX meeting will be a real time, structured working session to help you more effectively build and mobilize your referral network. No sitting at tables, PowerPoint slides or speakers - just you and your peers learning more specifically how to introduce each other's business.

Here's how it works:

  1. Participants will receive instructions when they RSVP for preparing their introduction cards. The template will be for a two-sided index cards presenting specific information for your business. Small groups who used the template consistently report great satisfaction with the way answering the questions has helped them (and their referral network) introduce their business.
  2. After a brief introduction, participants will be put in triads. Each member of the triad will present the other members with one of his or her index cards, and talk and answer questions about his or her business. His or her triad partners will ask questions and take a few notes on a provided card, thinking actively about referrals/ introductions they might make.
  3. Each participant's structured business description will be included in a book that will be provided to all participants within a week of the session.

The results?

  • You'll have a structured, effective format for introducing your business
  • You'll practice teaching colleagues how and to whom to present your business
  • You'll have created at least 2 potential referral partners
