Private sector consultants are often suspicious of consulting with the government. One IMC member has built a successful consulting career with federal agencies for over 40 years, and has offered to share with us his story and practical approaches to business development with public entities.

Private sector consultants could be tapping into the wealth available in the 100 billion dollar federal market for services ranging from Information Technology to Organizational Restructuring to Engineering. The current administration's emphasis on supporting small business concerns provides an unprecedented environment for doing business with the federal government. The presenters will focus on the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), as an example, and share their experiences with this agency, including:

  • Juárez and Associates' history of building a portfolio of federal contracts
  • Types of contracting
  • A profile of USAID
  • Marketing approaches for the independent consultant
  • Working in the international context
  • Working with international funding institutions
  • Sources of information on opportunities and keeping abreast of the industry

About the presenters:
