Best Practices in Strategy Mapping
for a Balanced Scorecard

An IMC NCR Professional
Development Workshop with
Paul Arveson

A strategy map is an effective way to visualize and analyze strategies for an organization.  In this workshop, attendees will use a case study to develop a strategy map.  We will learn the meaning of balanced scorecard perspectives, strategic objectives and how to derive meaningful performance measures using a strategy map.

Attendees will learn how to:
  • understand the meaning of balanced scorecard terms
  • build skills in strategy mapping
  • standardize language and best practices in strategic planning using the strategy map framework.
In addition to learning definitions and reviewing examples, workshop participants will review a case study, participate in a team strengths, weaknesses, opportunities & threat (SWOT) analysis of the case study, develop strategic themes, develop and critique strategy maps and participate in a discussion of performance measures and other outputs.

Recommended Reading: The Strategy-Focused Organization, by Kaplan & Norton
