Special Workshop
June 13, 2013, 8am - 12 noon

Glenda Eoyang leads a workshop on Human Systems Dynamics and the Adaptive Action Lab

Thriving in Turbulent Times: Increasing the adaptive capacity of human systems

Dr. Glenda Eoyang leads this lab that will introduce you to the experience of building adaptive capacity or resilience in  highly complex organizations.

This is a training on some of the most cutting edge and innovative work being done in the coaching world.  Bruce Hazen describes it as the most original, useful, and thought provoking material he's encountered in 20 years.

Come be challenged and learn new mental models and approaches you can use with your clients immediately.

Working at the intersection of the social sciences and the various complexity disciplines, Dr. Eoyang has developed a collection of concepts and tools that help practitioners and their clients find new possibilities for positive change. She is the founder of the Human Systems Dynamics Institute, a worldwide network of associates using innovative methodologies rooted in systems thinking to thrive when future conditions are uncertain and unknowable.

"It's brilliant. I took the full certification ten-day training from her last year and it absolutely changed how I think about working with individual clients as well as with organizations," says Sharon Buckmaster.  "It’s the most innovative thinking I have seen in the organization development and change field in the last 25 years.”

Who can benefit from using HSD?

  • Professionals in organization development and human resources.
  • Internal and external consultants, facilitators, coaches and trainers.
  • Agents for change in any field that requires working well with people to achieve goals in times of radical change.
  • Professionals who want to better see and influence patterns in human relationships.

Complex patterns emerge when humans interact. Those patterns can become particularly difficult when:

  • Resources are tight and demand is high
  • Old tools and techniques fall short
  • Players are many, diverse, or constantly changing
  • Culture and/or organizational habits are obsolete
  • Too much or too little control makes people crazy
  • There are so many moving parts you don’t know where to start

The work of HSD is currently being applied in such diverse areas as organization development, peace making/conflict resolution, education, program evaluation, performance management, leadership, and personal growth/development. Practitioners around the world are using the principles of HSD to enrich their work, teach clients and students, and expand the effectiveness of their individual fields of practice.
