Tax Strategies For Independent/
Small-Firm Consultants

Presentation Files will be posted after the event

While the pain of the 2012 tax season is still fresh, our May 9 program offers us updated strategies, tips, and techniques to legally retain more of what we earn in 2013. For independent management consultants (like most NCR members) this means better business planning and management, and fewer headaches in the new tax season.

It requires staying smart about what serves us best as self-employed business persons. Our accountants take care of our taxes, but sometimes we forget that we provide the information they use.

Key topics for this program include:
  • Important 2013 tax code changes—improve your current business planning
  • Boost your income—use tax strategies in your business to increase 2013 net income
  • Simplify preparation—documentation tips that save you a lot of time, every time
  • Travel and Entertainment—unimaginable ways to increase T&E deductions legally
  • Managing accountants—steps that help tax professionals serve you more effectively
  • Audit-proofing—reduce your chances by knowing red flags to avoid
  • Home office deductions—how consulting professionals safely qualify, and how they transform personal commuting into deductible business miles
  • Business purchases—the impact of the new tax law
  • 105 Medical Plans—turn family medical costs into tax-advantage business expenses.

Why talk "taxes” in May? What better time to make your business less "taxing” than the start of a new year? Please join us!

About Our Speaker

Maine Shafer, J.D, has over 13 years experience as a speaker on tax reduction strategies for Bradford and Company, Inc., headquartered in Sausalito, CA. Maine’s career in tax law started as a U.S Senate staffer on Capitol Hill while receiving his Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center. His tax education continued during a clerkship with the Chief Judge of the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, and while working as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of New Mexico.

Maine has presented to numerous IMC USA Chapters, including our own NCR Chapter in 2010, and always to outstanding reviews. In addition to making detailed tax information clear and usable, his platforms include sales and motivational speeches, and hosting a radio talk show. Maine consistently earns student evaluations in excess of 9.7 on a scale of 1 to 10, a testimony to his ability to make tax strategy and planning a cash resource for participants. We hope you will join us.
