What's cultural planning?
Come to this month's office party, hosted by Switchback Group, to find out!

Switchback Group helps communities and organizations develop and/or enhance their cultural assets.

Cultural Planning is a holistic approach to the development of well-planned and creative communities supported by vibrant cultures and creative economies. It recognizes that the creative economy includes not only museums and the symphony, but also architects, bike designers, heritage and environmental organizations.

Cultural Planning implies (and often is) a large scale city/regional cultural plan and/or the arts and culture component of a city plan. However, in many cases, it's working with communities for smaller projects -- like increasing the arts in our state parks, working with arts organizations on leadership opportunities or planning with a bookstore to develop community engagement strategies.

Including CULTURE in the planning process is about maximizing the productivity and benefits of a community's culture -- a way to envision, strengthen and leverage cultural resources in support of the city. It brings tourism, new businesses, new employment. For organizations, cultural literacy and community engagement raise the attractiveness to both potential employees and patrons and customers -- helping the bottom line.

Members may bring a friend, client, colleague, and/or interested potential IMC members.
