Professional actors from the Alliance Theatre teach you how to leverage acting techniques to improve your presentation skills.  Presenting is a skill, and it requires practice.   During the Alliance@work session, you will learn how to use your unique voice to convey your message with authenticity and confidence.

During this session, Alliance@work will provide you with a framework of theater-based techniques and strategies to enhance your public speaking, presentation or interview skills. The session is designed for low-risk and high success for all participants in a safe and engaging environment.

Meet Your Presenters

SteveSteve Coulter  is an Atlanta-based actor, writer and director. Most recently, he was seen in James Wan’s The Conjuring, and had a lead role in Wan’s Insidious Chapter 2. He has appeared in The Hunger Games, Disney’s The Odd Life of Timothy Green, in Jayne Mansfield's Car opposite Robert Duvall (directed by Billy Bob Thornton), and with Denzel Washington in Flight, directed by Robert Zemeckis. He will also be appearing in Kill the Messenger with Jeremy Renner in 2014, and in Fast & Furious 7. He has a regular role in the Cinemax/HBO series, Banshee, which has just been renewed for a third season. Steve was the head writer and executive story editor for both of Tyler Perry’s television series, House of Payne and Meet the Browns, where he supervised over 100 episodes and won two consecutive NAACP IMAGE Awards for Best Comedy Series. He wrote and directed the award-winning short film, The Etiquette Man, selected by the Sundance Channel and the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. His screenplay, Keesha’s House, won the $100,000 Southeastern Media Award. He was a vocal and performance coach for CNN on-air correspondents for over five years, and dialect coach for Paramount Pictures’ Flight.

DavidDavid de Vries  began his long career as an actor, director, teacher and voice artist at the Alliance Theatre School. Since then, he has performed on Broadway as Lumiere in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, along with three other companies in the show’s long and successful history. He also played Dr. Dillamond in the smash hit Wicked for three years in Los Angeles, Chicago and originated the role for the 2nd National Tour. In addition to his musical theatre credits, David has frequented the Atlanta stage with Suzi-nominated appearances in shows like CarapaceGlengarry Glen Ross and Sleuth (Alliance Theatre) and Theatrical Outfit’s Freud’s Last Session. On screen, recent television credits include, “Nashville”, “Devious Maids”, “Drop Dead Diva” and “Necessary Roughness” and the soon to be released feature “Kill The Messenger.”. His career in voiceover has included award-winning (“Earphones Award”, “Audie Award” “Silver Microphone” “Clio Award”) narrations of audiobooks , documentaries and corporate narrations, and thousands of commercials for radio and television. As a director, David piloted the Suzi Award winning “2012 Best Production” of Red at Theatrical Outfit, in addition to stagings for the Alliance Theater (“Sight Unseen”), Theatre in the Square (“Of Mice and Men”), and Jewish Theatre of the South (“Collected Stories”). He holds a B.A. in Performing Arts from American University and an M.A. in Communication and Leadership from Gonzaga University. David recently served as visiting professor/artist-in-residence at Brenau University in Gainesville Georgia and now teaches privately.

J.J. Noble  is currently the Communications Manager for the Alliance Theatre’s Education Department. In this role, J. manages Alliance@work, a professional development program that uses theater-based strategies to help people enhance their public speaking and presentation skills. J. is also a training consultant with Georgia Quick Start where he provides curriculum design and delivery for companies across Georgia.  Previously, J. was the Professional Learning Coordinator for the Woodruff Arts Center and facilitated the Professional Learning Initiative, which supported local educators with arts integrated curriculum. Before coming to Atlanta, J. was the Director of Performing Arts for the Tennessee Arts Commission. At the Commission, he managed the development and administration of state and federal grants to a diverse constituency of arts and non-arts organizations, educational institutions, and individual artists across Tennessee. J. also served as the Artistic Director of Theatre Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee. J. holds an M.F.A in theater (directing) and an M.Ed in English.
