Successful New Products

If you are interested in technology consulting or consulting to high-tech clients, please join us at the IMC OC & SoCal Technology SIG meeting on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the conference room of Laurel Electronics, Inc., 3183-G Airway Ave., Costa Mesa, CA 92626 (close to the intersection of the 405 and 55 freeways). Those interested may proceed to a local restaurant following our meeting.
  • Strategic Considerations for Successful New Products will be the topic of the first half of the meeting, with Harald Weiss as the discussion leader. Which strategic elements lead to long-term sales growth, and which lead to failure?
  • Leveraging Core Competencies to Achieve Faster Growth will be the topic of the second half of the meeting, with Dr. Nelson Zagalsky as the discussion leader. How should companies use strategic focusing for better-differentiated products and lower product development costs?

IMC Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are designed for IMC members, but non-members visitors are welcome for up to three SIG meetings. If your consulting practice includes new product strategy, please join on February 9 and be prepared to share your insights on this important topic.

Presenters & Discussion Leaders

Harald Weiss, President of Technical Marketing Group, Inc., provides marketing consulting and services to high-tech companies. Prior to forming TMG in 1995, he was VP of Marketing of Newport Electronics and Director of Marketing of Econolite Control Products. He hold a BS degree in physics from Harvey Mudd College, an MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He is president of the OC Chapter of IMC USA.

Nelson Zagalsky, President of High-Tech Focus, Inc., is an executive coach and strategic planning consultant who specializes in working with technical managers and technology business leaders. His extensive tech-sector leadership background includes Director of Corporate Planning, General Manager, Director of Marketing, and Director of Engineering for Honeywell. He holds a Ph.D. in Communications & Control Systems Engineering and is a certified behavioral coach.

The Mission of the Technology SIG is to:
  • Identify opportunities in consulting to high-tech clients.
  • Develop more effective consulting skills in serving high-tech clients.
  • Facilitate use of technology by client companies.
  • Support each other through networking and professional relationships.
  • Create a collaborative group of consultants serving high-tech clients or performing technology development.

IMC OC & SoCal SIG meetings are open to IMC members only. The Technology SIG is currently meeting in OC, but we can change our venue if so desired by SIG participants.
