Speaker -- Luis Vasquez, OCTANe VP of Entrepreneurship

Tuesday, August 10, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
TechSpace (Huntington 3), 65 Enterprise, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656
Note new location for this special meeting!

OCTANe: Most of Orange County's leading biomedical and information technology companies, high-tech startups, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, service providers, and universities are active in OCTANe, Orange County's Innovation Development Corporation (IDC). Orange County is the center of Southern California innovation and entrepreneurship, and is home to over 3.1 million people and over 600 R&D driven, capital backed biomedical and information technology businesses (nearly one per square mile). OCTANe and its partners are building a sustainable innovation infrastructure for decades to come.

OCTANe's LaunchPad
is a hands-on, pro-bono, accelerator for startup companies in the technology, biomedical, and clean tech industries. Startup companies that go through the LaunchPad preparation and evaluation phase receive some of the most detailed, quantitative, and useful feedback. OCTANe has connections with many funding sources. LaunchPad companies have raised over $76 million within 12 months of participating in LaunchPad. Topics will include:

  • OCTANe LaunchPad process for helping OC startup companies.
  • Typical needs of startup companies in OC based on LaunchPad gap analysis.
  • Current technologies of successful OC startup companies.
  • Funding and job creation success of the OCTANe LaunchPad process.
  • Q&A with discussion.

Join us at our next IMC Technology SIG meeting on Tuesday, August 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. to learn more about OCTANE, LaunchPad and consulting opportunities related to Orange County technology innovation and funding. Our guest speaker will be Luis Vasquez, OCTANe's VP of Entrepreneurship. Our venue will be an OCTANe conference room: TechSpace (Huntington 3), 65 Enterprise, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656. Those interested may proceed to a local restaurant following our meeting.

Luis Vasquez, OCTANe VP of Entrepreneurship

In this capacity, he has helped over 500 companies get started, get funded, grow, and exit. Prior to joining LaunchPad, he founded a startup nanotechnology sensor company to commercialize technology developed at Caltech. He also has extensive experience in defense, industrial, and energy markets. He has an MBA from UC Irvine and a BS from UC Riverside.
