In August 2016, Ron Cowan left a Sales Operation Leadership role at a Fortune 500® Medical Device Manufacturer to strike out on his own as an independent Consultant.

Ron faced many choices….join a large firm, a boutique, or go it alone? As a Sales Operations Leader responsible for Business Intelligence and CRM technology systems, sales process and training, he had acquired many valuable skills over the years, but which skills would be marketable? How should he package his skills? Who would be interested?

In this very candid session at 7 a.m. on April 6 at The Lakes Golf Course in El Segundo, Ron will talk about his first full year as a Consultant; specifically, how he obtained each client, and how he priced his services.

He will also discuss the critical decisions made along the way and share lessons learned regarding:

  • Positioning and Branding
    • Is it better to narrowly specialize or offer more general services?
  • Business Structure o Should he utilize outside resources or do the work himself?
    • Partnering with other Consultants
  • Sales & Marketing
    • Lead generation and social media marketing tactics which were effective
    • Sales efforts that led to success and why certain deals were lost

You will leave this session with some surprising insights and takeaways including:

  • What works and does not in a very different world today
  • How to identify techniques specifically for you to build your business
  • How to think more strategically and obtain more business from current clients

Join us at 7 AM for networking with other consultants. Breakfast and introductions generally starts at 7:30 AM, with our program from 7:45-9 AM.

Please note: This is a “hybrid” session, with our speaker presenting in the meeting room and the session captured live via video conferencing. The hybrid format allows consultants to join us virtually from anywhere in the world. Attendees who join us via Zoom will have an opportunity to introduce themselves and participate in the discussion.

About Ron Cowan

Ron Cowan is an expert consulting in the implementationRon Cowan and configuration of sales, marketing and customer service technology solutions for mid-market companies.

He founded Snowforce, LLC in 2016 to provide solutions specifically for companies generating between $2 million and $200 million annually in revenues. Based in Los Angeles, Snowforce, LLC offers a unique approach to providing outsourced administration and system management of Salesforce® systems for small and medium sized businesses with 5 to 100 users.

Specializing in Salesforce applications, he is deals in areas critical to business success: system strategy / business process design; architecture and configuration; system integration and data migration; as well as providing architecture, development and administration as ongoing services. Cowan works with business owners, sales, marketing and service leaders, chief financial officers, information technology administrators and other key personnel to identify sales, marketing and service/support solutions for companies.

He spent nine years as Sales Operations Leader, at ZimmerBiomet, a Fortune 500® Medical Device Manufacturer where he implemented a 4,000+ user Salesforce system as well as a Global Business Intelligence (B.I.) Data Warehouse. He also created ZimmerBiomet University, an Online Educational Platform hosting over 140 courses in seven languages. Prior to ZimmerBiomet Ron was founding Vice President of Sales of Ineto, Inc. (acquired by Oracle), Director of Sales at Acuity, Inc. (acquired by Lucent Technologies) and has held management positions at Keystone Expositions, Inc., iSearch and Lexi International,Inc.

Ron holds a B.A. in English from the University of Western Ontario, an M.B.A. from Rice University and is currently completing his M.S. in Information Technology (Business Intelligence) at the University of Colorado, Denver, CO.
