This article is the second in a series designed to help our member consultants maximize the value they add for their clients and their professional development.
What are the qualities of a great consultant? What are the “dos and don’ts” of starting a consulting business? What are opportunities and impediments to running a consulting business?
Whether you are new to the consulting industry, or you’ve been a consultant for a while, these are just some of the questions you may have about building a deep understanding of the consulting industry. Staying current with consulting skills, industry trends, competition, and the future of the industry is an important part of your success as a consultant.
In this blog post we provide some recommendations for consulting industry thought leadership by authors that we know. We have tried to focus on the most valuable opportunities for readers rather than writings geared to sell services to consultants. We also include mention of some courses to take to learn more about consulting.

Hi Jennifer, happy new year! I’ve been watching the transition to a “new” IMC and am feeling somewhat positive about it, though I have to confess I nearly didn’t renew after nearly 30 years of membership. Things had gone so far downhill I was having trouble justifying it.
Then I saw YOUR message about offering a vehicle for members to blog and submit articles etc., so I decided to bite the bullet and hang in there for another year.
Which brings me to the obvious question of how do I get involved in this? I’d love to submit articles and/or blog posts so do I query YOU and is there some other mechanism or point person for it? I’d like to do what I can to keep IMC alive!
Let me know,
Ken, thank you for your comment. IMC USA’s focus is on highlighting our members and their extensive knowledge of consulting to create thought leadership content. We are looking for blog posts that add value for consultants. Member authors get a byline with a brief bio and contact link. Here’s to making 2025 a positive and successful year our members and IMC USA!
