Message From The Chair
Happy New Year! IMC USA continued to make significant progress in 2016 thanks to the hard work of our members. Here are a few of the successes.
Member Endorsement Videos: During the first quarter of 2016, we finished the member endorsement videos that we started in the fourth quarter of 2015. There are now nine member videos on our website touting the benefits of IMC USA membership. The videos are arranged much like the old Tic Tac Toe game. I call this page our Hollywood Squares page since it also resembles that old TV show. This page is easily accessible by guests as well as members. I use it when speaking with prospective members because it provides endorsements from consultants at every stage of their career. It is very easy for the prospective member to relate to one of the members in the videos that is in the same career stage. You can view the completed project here.
Reactivated Facebook and Twitter: The IMC USA Facebook Page and Twitter account were reactivated to promote the 2016 Conference as well as other key functions. This effort resulted in several new members and first time participants in the Conference. We will expand this presence in 2017.
Management Consulting Certificate Program (MCCP): We signed one new program delivery agreement and one new Letter of Intent with universities in 2016. MCCP is an important non-dues revenue generator for IMC USA. A special thank you to Manola Robison and Angela Dingle for their efforts in developing each of these opportunities.
The Academy: The Academy expanded its offering and continued to grow its participation in 2016. Archived sessions are available on the website. A reclassification of the archived offerings and additional search options is planned for the second quarter of 2017. This project will make it much easier to identify and locate the desired archive.
Thought Leadership Website: Our Thought Leadership Website, Consulting 2.0, will deliver essential insights to help Business to Business (B2B) consultants attract new clients and grow successful practices. The content is designed specifically for small to mid-size consultants and delivers leading edge thinking to improve your core business. The website was built in 2016 with a soft launch anticipated in late first quarter 2017. We are seeking additional submissions for the following consulting topics prior to launch:

Mentoring Program: The Consulting Mastermind Roundtable (CMR) Committee completed its work on the development of the IMC USA Mentorship Program. This program aligns mentorship across the chapters and supports At Large mentorship as well. A special thank you to Pat Schumaker and Ron Wohl for leading this effort.
Reason for Being (RFB): This project launched in February upon approval by the Board and was jointly sponsored by Marketing and Membership. RFB began as an effort to identify support changes needed among our members and the market to reset our strategic direction. It included input from a large percentage of our membership and significant face time via Zoom with representatives from all geographies (both chapter and at-large), tenures in the profession and levels of engagement within IMC USA. It continued through September with a status presentation to the Leadership Summit in October.
Based upon the overwhelming support of these IMC USA leaders from across the country, the Board of Directors has approved a continuation of this effort in 2017. It is expected that RFB will be foundational for future expansion of IMC USA. A special thank you to Mike Wittenstein who shepherded and facilitated this grassroots process along with our many members that contributed and participated in the development of RFB during 2016. It has been a strong collaborative effort.
The Reason for Being is more than a Mission Statement. It is a very carefully worded declaration of our intent as an organization. Inside our Reason for Being is a formula for the future success of IMC USA. It tells us and the rest of the world what we do, for whom, and how each will be better. 2016 Conference: Certainly, the crown jewel of IMC USA accomplishments last year was the 2016 Conference. Everyone had a great time and left with many new skills and/or tools. We had a strong international contingent with consultants joining us from Bangladesh, Canada, Finland, Greece, Japan, and Jordan. Long time members as well as first time participants were equally impressed as noted in their reviews of the programming. One of our long-time members stated that “this conference ranks right up with the best of the 15 conferences that I have attended." 2017 Conference: Not being a group to rest on their laurels, Henry DeVries and the Conference Committee immediately began the process of planning the 2017 Conference and expanded its committee membership. New Professional Member Lauralee Hites, new Young Professional Member Charles Nunnally II, Mike Wittenstein CMC, and Jennifer Beever CMC joined to strengthen your conference team. Jennifer will be serving as Marketing Chair for the committee. Any suggestions for speakers or topics should be forwarded to the committee via Noelle Campany at Noelle@imcusa.org. The 2017 Conference will be held October 19-22. Be sure to mark your calendars now. More details will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.

With the addition of the Young Professional membership two years ago, we completed our membership offerings to provide benefits and services to management consultants throughout their career beginning as students and continuing through retirement. The combination of member benefits and savings coupled with the full range of membership categories makes IMC USA membership an excellent option for aspiring or fully engaged management consultants.
While IMC USA has made many advancements, it is and continues to be a work in progress. We have an ongoing need of more volunteers to help build and shape our future. As we roll out the Reason for Being in 2017, we will be introducing more incremental opportunities to assist in this future building. Watch for additional information during the early second quarter.
