Confab, the Conference for Consultants
by Consultants

Confab was an annual conference for IMC USA members that took place in Reno, Nevada for 34 years. Developed specifically by and for consultants, this learning, sharing and networking event drew consultants of all disciplines from throughout the United States and several foreign countries.

Confab was discontinued in 2012, so that IMC USA could move its conference to venues in different regions of the United States that are easier to access for consultants all over the world.

For more information on IMC USA's next conference, please see out conference page on the IMC USA website.

About the Confab Conference for Consultants

Confab included over 20 sessions, exhibits, networking and collaboration, all meals, and a photo directory with descriptions and contact information for all attendees. It was a conference specifically developed by and for consultants. The intimacy of the conference provided the perfect setting where consultants made connections and sought ways to do business together. Attendees included experienced independent consultants, consultants from boutique and large firms, as well as those just starting in the profession.

The first Confab get-together (called Western Mini-Confab to reflect its regional focus) was a one-day affair with 22 attendees. This grew to a 2 1/2 day conference in the mighty peaks of the Sierra Nevada in downtown Reno, Nevada. Confab played host to hundreds of consultants from across the U.S. and Canada who gathered for over 34 years to learn, network and sharpen their consulting wits.

Many professional conferences focused on strategy: not so at Confab. Here the emphasis was on tactics and practical application. Confab sought speakers who are consultants themselves, because we've found the most effective presenters come from the trenches of consulting.

Confab attendees included:
  • Anyone who consults to management
  • Internal consultants
  • Business coaches and mentors
  • Special practice consultants, such as IT consultants, CPA , consulting engineers, professional speakers, and marketing consultants
  • Individuals and students interested in management consulting
