About Our Speaker

 

Rob Johnson’s published purpose is: “To love the Creative Spirit, to practice and enjoy more fully that Spirit’s presence, and to serve as a compassionate change agent – starting with myself! – for individuals, organizations, collaborations, and communities that are committed to making the world a better place!”

In 2016 Rob launched his “encore career” as a consultant and coach, following 29 years of service at the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB). Rob first joined ACFB as the founding Director of Atlanta’s Table, one of the first prepared-food rescue programs in the country. When Atlanta’s Table became a national model, Rob helped create FoodChain, a national network of similar programs - serving as Food Chain’s second Board Chair and helping over 100 cities create food rescue initiatives throughout the country.  For 17 years he was ACFB’s Chief Operating Officer and finally launched their collaborative, externally-focused Community Building initiative. While at ACFB, Rob also leveraged his leadership in Georgia’s Organizational Change Alliance help the Food Bank become one of the acknowledged best managed non-profits in the state of Georgia.

 

Prior to ACFB, Rob co-founded and lived in the Open Door Community, one of the first Georgia residential communities for the homeless. Prior to that he worked with the United Methodist Church-related Wesley Community Centers developing meals-on-wheels programs in four metro-Atlanta counties and serving as that organization’s first full-time fundraising/resource developer.

 

In addition to his leadership role with IMC-Georgia Chapter, Rob served two terms as the Organizational Change Alliance’s Board Chair and for three years as co-chair of the very successful and well-received Community Exposure Day with Leadership Atlanta. He has served as Alumni Board member of his alma mater, Eckerd College, and is on his class of ‘71’s upcoming 50th year reunion committee!

 

Rob received his M.S. in Social Psychology from the University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia, and his B.A. in Psychology from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida.
