Don Matheson FIMC, CMC®

Don Matheson, FIMC, CMC®, is the CEO of NorthStar Management and has provided consulting services to management for over 30 years. NorthStar was originally formed to provide consulting services to companies involved in Mergers, Acquisitions, and Chapter 11 Bankruptcy turnarounds. However, it quickly grew into a powerful resource for any small to mid-sized company looking to improve its operational performance. Don helps CEOs and other C-level executives improve their company’s financial performance and strengthen their balance sheets while optimizing the utilization of existing resources.

Mr. Matheson has served in a variety of roles for IMC USA, beginning as a Director for the Carolinas Chapter, followed by four years as Chapter President and Certification Chair from 2009 until May of 2015. In May of 2011, the IMC USA membership elected Don to the national board, where he served as a Director and Chair of the Finance & Audit Committee. In 2012, the membership elected him as IMC USA Treasurer, a role he held until May of 2015. He is the recipient of the IMC USA 2013 Achievement Award for his financial expertise, strong leadership, and ongoing commitment.

In May of 2015, the membership elected him as Chair & CEO of IMC USA, where he served until May 2018. Don was elected to the Carolinas Board of Directors at that time but continued on the IMC USA Board of Directors until May of 2021. Mr. Matheson was named a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC) in 2020.

He has a long record of volunteer service in other sectors as well. Don has extensive Board experience, having served on numerous boards, including the Georgia Manufacturers Association, where he served as Board Member, Treasurer, Vice-Chair, and Chair-elect. He served six years on the Board of Directors for the Georgia State Chamber of Commerce before moving back to North Carolina. In addition to serving on the Middle Georgia United Way Board, he was Founding Chair of the Heart of Georgia United Way. Don has served on various Business & Economic Advisory Boards at the state & national level.
